What we do
Our team is trained to diagnose and manage a diverse range of diseases and disorders such as diabetes, thyroid dysfunction and cancer, obesity, osteoporosis, Elevated cholesterol, metabolic disorders, and much more!
Pituitary dysfunction & Tumors
Pituitary tumors begin in the pituitary gland, a pea-sized organ in the center of the brain that makes hormones that affect many of the body’s functions. The majority of pituitary tumors are considered benign (non-cancerous). They are usually slow to progress but can grow quite large if left untreated.
Osteoporosis
A condition in which bones become weak and brittle. The body constantly absorbs and replaces bone tissue. With osteoporosis, new bone creation does not keep up with old bone removal. Many people have no symptoms until they have a bone fracture. Treatment includes medications, healthy diet, and weight-bearing exercise to help prevent bone loss or strengthen already weak bones.
Metabolic Syndrome
A cluster of conditions that increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Metabolic syndrome includes high blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess body fat around the waist, and abnormal cholesterol levels. The syndrome increases a person's risk for heart attack and stroke. Aside from a large waist circumference, most of the disorders associated with metabolic syndrome have no symptoms. Weight loss, exercise, a healthy diet, and smoking cessation can help. Medications may also be prescribed.
Adrenal dysfunction & Tumors
The adrenal glands, also called suprarenal glands are involved in the production of steroid-sex hormones, cortisol, and other very important hormones that control many bodily functions such as our blood pressure. Excess or deficiency of these hormones can lead to health issues.
Thyroid & Parathyroid dysfunction, Nodules & Cancer
Typical thyroid conditions are multinodular goiter (enlarged thyroid), hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid), hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid), thyroid nodules, and thyroid cancer. Disorders of the parathyroid gland include hypo and hyperparathyroidism which could lead to either low or elevated calcium levels in your blood. Parathyroid adenomas and cancers can also occur.
Premature Ovarian insufficiency & Menopause:
Primary ovarian insufficiency occurs when the ovaries stop functioning properly at a premature age. When this happens, the ovaries do not produce typical amount of the hormone estrogen or release eggs regularly. This condition is also called premature ovarian insufficiency and often leads to infertility.
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
PCOS is a hormonal disorder common among women of reproductive age. Women with PCOS may have irregular clinically and/or chemically menstrual periods and excess male hormone (androgen) levels. The ovaries may develop numerous small collections of fluid (follicles) and fail to regularly release eggs. Insulin resistance is the main culprit, and these patients are at risk of developing diabetes, subfertility and even endometrial cancer, if not treated.
Male low testosterone
Testicular failure occurs when the testicles cannot produce sperm or male hormones, such as testosterone. Low testosterone can also occur due to pituitary tumors or pituitary hormone insufficiency. Testosterone hormonal replacement with testosterone may be given once the causes of low testosterone have been found and if clinically indicated.
Diabetes Mellitus (DM)
There are diferent types of diabetes mellitus, two types commonly seen diabetes mellitus are type 1 & type 2 DM.
Type 1 Diabetes:
An autoimmune disease in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin. It typically appears in adolescence, but it can occur at any age. Symptoms at onset may include increased thirst, frequent urination, hunger, fatigue, and blurred vision. Treatment aims at maintaining normal blood sugar levels through regular monitoring, insulin therapy, diet, and exercise.
Type 2 Diabetes:
A chronic condition that affects the way the body processes blood sugar (glucose). With type 2 diabetes, the body either does not produce enough insulin, or it resists insulin. Symptoms include increased thirst, frequent urination, hunger, fatigue, and blurred vision. In some cases, there may be no symptoms. Treatments include diet, exercise, medications, and insulin therapy.
Premature Ovarian insufficiency & Menopause:
Primary ovarian insufficiency occurs when the ovaries stop functioning as they should before age 40. When this happens,
our ovaries don't produce typical amounts of the hormone estrogen or release eggs regularly. This condition is also called premature ovarian insufficiency and often leads to infertility.
